As some of you know already, our unborn baby has been diagnosed with a heart condition. Specifically, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It's one of the more serious congenital heart defects a baby can have. You can read more about the condition here. While he's in the womb, he should still be okay. It's when he's born, that it will be most life threatening. The kind of surgery he will need depends on how well the heart grows between now and when he is born. The specialist Jamie saw said it was most likely that he will need three surgeries to correct the problem well enough for him to live, but he won't ever be completely cured - at least, not in this life. Unfortunately, the odds of him surviving the first surgery aren't great.
We are sad and disappointed, but are trying to be as optimistic as we can. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers on our behalf.

Moffitt family: I'm sure you're devestated by the news of your baby having HLHS. Just wanted to share that my son was born with the same condition in 2002. He's been through all three surgeries (diagnosed the day after birth). He struggled through the first, but today he's in first grade and doing really well. Most people have no idea what he's been through and he does all he can to keep up with his 10-year-old brother!
Check out the site http://tchin.org. It's all about parents of heart kids. There's a special listserv of families of HLHS kids.
Good luck. If you want to talk to someone who's been there, feel free to email! Sending prayers and good thoughts your way. Deb G
I am so sorry - you will ALL be in my prayers, especially that sweet baby... and I agree with the miracle comment above. :) Love you guys!
I'm so sorry you guys. It's times like this that I just have to remember that the Lord is in control, even though I don't see the big picture. I know it's not the most comforting thing, we will pray for you and your baby.
You are in our prayers! Please keep us updayed when the time comes. He must be one special guy the Lord is entrusting you with.
We'll keep fasting and praying.
I'm so very sorry about this diagnosis. Our babies are so precious. I "know" your mother, Lisa, from Gingerwood bb and her blog. That's how I learned of your sad news. My heart goes out to you and that darling baby--and all the rest of you.
I'm so sorry to hear your devastating news. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Ether 12:6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
